POWER Baseball’s Internship Program
The Power’s internship program offers opportunities for a variety of majors. Because the organization is small and growing, interns are heavily relied upon and have the opportunity to experience several different aspects of a sports organization.
Palm Springs Power Baseball established their first intern program for the summer season of 2005. Since this time the program has grown in the amount of interns taken in and opportunities available to them. The Power’s interns have come from the local area as well as universities across the country. The organization takes great pride in the accomplishments of past interns. Former Power interns have attended school at University of Nebraska, University of Redlands, Michigan State, Cal State San Bernardino, University of Michigan, University of San Francisco’s Sports Management Graduate program, Pitzer College, College of the Desert, and Wheaton College among many others.

The following are general descriptions of our intern offerings
Media Intern
The Media Relations Intern is responsible for: writing press releases, creating and organizing the team roster, updating the website, contacting local media with post game reports, writing post game articles immediately following the game, operating gameTracker webcasts during games, and keeping track of and updating team statistics. This is generally done under the supervision of the General Manager.
Media intern may also assist the marketing team during the pre-season by attending special events to help promote the team and assist with other marketing duties.
Miss POWER Contest Coordinator Intern
This position requires an outgoing, very social individual to organize and execute Power Baseball’s very first Miss POWER Contest. Ultimately the intern will take the initial contest idea and turn it into a reality. Responsibilities include:
- Setting up guidelines for the contest
- Working to inform the media and public of contest
- Finding contestants
- Organizing appearances for contestants and winner
- Working with Marketing Director to coordinate contest during game nights
This intern will undertake this project with minimal supervision from their supervisor. There is a great deal of room for creativity and the opportunity to be responsible for the success of a brand new and potentially spectacular event.
Internship can be tailored to meet spifice student needs for experince or college credit.

Director of Stadium Operations (Part Time/Game Day)
Supervise stadium operations employees in completing assigned tasks; work with general manager in general upkeep of stadium; assist in dealing with game night issues in a calm and professional manner
Stadium Operations Employees (Game Day)
Work with Director of Stadium Operations to ensure that all aspects of maintenance and stadium assignments are completed on a nightly basis
Ticket Box Operator (Game Day)
Interact with POWER fans; assist fans with questions; exchange money; follow promotional ticket schedule
Ticket Taker (Game Day)
Interact with POWER fans; assist fans with questions; help enforce policies
Merchandise Vendor (Game Day)
Interact with POWER fans; assist fans with questions; exchange money; must have outgoing attitude; sales background helpful
Program Vendor (Game Day)
Interact with POWER fans; assist fans with questions; exchange money; must have outgoing attitude; sales background helpful
Kids Zone Supervisor (Game Day)
Interact with POWER children and adults; supervision; exchange money; assist in the installation and tear down of inflatable on a nightly basis
